Materials for Custom Chocolate Packaging
Different structures call for different materials. Cardboard is a versatile option for folding cartons and printed retail packaging. Kraft can support a simpler, more natural visual direction. Corrugated material may be used where additional structure is needed, while rigid or heavy two-piece formats can be considered for gift and premium packaging.
Food-contact requirements should always be confirmed based on how the chocolate is packed. Some products are foil wrapped, flow wrapped, placed in cups, or separated by an insert; others may be exposed to parts of the packaging.
Chocolate can also contain fats, fillings, or coatings that affect packaging requirements. Tell the packaging team whether the product will touch the box or insert directly so the material, liner, coating, ink, and finish can be considered for the intended use.
